Your Celebrant

Hello, my name is Julie and I live in East Lothian.

I was inspired to become a civil celebrant following the experience of trying to find the right person to lead my own beloved mum's funeral. It's a role that is very close to my heart and very much aligned with my ability to be there for people who are facing life's biggest issues.  It’s also a culmination of my professional skills, my academic learning and my natural aptitude for writing and public speaking.

I am dedicated to taking the best care of you and your wishes during those most important times in your life.

I trained with the Celebrant Training Academy Scotland and I passed with distinction.

I currently combine my celebrant service with my work as a support worker for unpaid carers – a job that I love and that I have done for many years.

All of my career has been spent working in care-related settings in the charitable sector and I have also worked as a nurse in the NHS and the private sector. Over the years I have also done voluntary work with many people of all ages with all kinds of abilities and disabilities and in all different life circumstances.

I have a BA degree in Communication Studies, a post graduate in Community Education and a BSc in Adult Nursing.

My approach to working with everyone is positive, caring, inclusive and person-centred.

I have a real interest in music and poetry and I can make suggestions for artistic content for your ceremony if you like.

I also have experience of acting, public speaking and singing so you can be confident that your ceremony will be delivered in a professional manner.
